Wandering Web – Healthy Lifestyle Focus

Squat stance width is a question that gets asked a lot in the fitness community. How far apart should my feet be? Should my toes be straight ahead or slightly out? These are important questions to know, but they are not simple, straightforward answers. This article from Men’s Health doesn’t give all the scientific mumbo jumbo, but it does give a few answers as to how foot distance affects squatting. Give it a read:

I love to travel, but it is definitely difficult to travel and maintain a healthy lifestyle. There is a reason the fast food industry basically has a monopoly on the land around highways; when traveling, you normally want something fast and easy. Unfortunately, fast and easy does not always mean healthy. This article from Breaking Muscle gives some ideas on how to not totally go off the rails on vacation. My favorite part, “Dieting can be stressful both physically and mentally, and vacations are a great time to de-stress and break out of your routine”: http://breakingmuscle.com/menus-and-meal-plans/how-to-stick-to-your-nutrition-goals-while-traveling

This is truly disgusting. I honestly do not care how healthy cockroach milk may turn out to be, you would have to pay me an obscene amount of money to even consider trying that drink. Apparently, however, it is the world’s newest superfood! If you want a superfood, go look in the produce department, close your eyes, and just pick something up. It is not that complicated:

It seems that Lionel Messi (arguably the best soccer player of all time) and Mat Fraser (this year’s CrossFit Games champion) have something important in common: they always focus on having fun at training. Messi has been quoted as saying the key to his accomplishments has been that he always has seen soccer as fun, and this allows him to work hard and enjoy the process. Apparently, Fraser has a similar mentality:

Am I ready for CrossFit?

We are asked, “Am I ready for CrossFit?” multiple times every week. The knee jerk reaction is to say yes. Then I got to thinking if that’s really true, or not. The biggest cliche in CrossFit is that everyone can do CrossFit. Ask any well-intentioned, experienced CrossFit coach or athlete and they will say, “CrossFit … more »
