Wandering Web: Nutrition and Workout Advice

Nutrient timing is an often talked about, and often over-complicated topic for nutrition and workout advice. Additionally, it is actually very important in terms of seeing all of the improvements from your workouts that you deserve for all your hard work. By eating the correct things at the correct times, you improve your body’s ability to grow muscle, burn fat, and recover between workouts. But, once again, it doesn’t have to be as complex as many make it. Often times when people sustain an injury and have to sit out training or practice, nutrition is the first thing to fly out the window. This should not be the case. Not only is it even more important than usual to keep your nutrition in check in terms of weight and body fat percentage, but your diet can actually help you heal faster. Conversely, making poor choices can lengthen your time on the sidelines, further extending the time it takes you to reach your fitness goals. Additionally, if these foods help with injury recovery, it’s a safe bet that they will improve recovery between workouts, as well:

In general, we could all use more flexibility and mobility work in our overall training plan. However, just like doing incorrect lifts with poor form can set you back rather than move you forward in fitness, bad stretches will have the same consequences. While they won’t be as drastic as the slipped disc that can come from an extended period of time doing deadlifts incorrectly, these stretches will still do more harm than good. What is interesting is that some of these are extremely popular, often used stretches.
